WoW This Week: The War Within Looms

The drums of war are beating louder in Azeroth, and The War Within™ is almost upon us. Gather your allies and prepare to face Xal’atath, Harbinger of the Void, in the depths of the world.

Welcome Back Weekend: Last Call!

Missed the news? Blizzard is giving players with inactive World of Warcraft® accounts full access to the game until tomorrow, 4th August! Jump back in, explore all expansions (including Dragonflight!), and get a taste of the Radiant Echoes pre-expansion event. It’s the perfect time to rejoin your guild, rally your Warband, and prepare for the epic battles to come.

The War Within officially launches on 27th August at midnight BST. Don’t miss out!

New and Returning Players: Get Up to Speed

New to WoW or returning after a break? No worries! Start your journey at level 1 and learn the ropes, or dive straight into your chosen race’s starting area. Hit level 10 and you can venture into Dragonflight or try out a Timewalking Campaign.

Level up to 70 and be ready to storm Khaz Algar when The War Within goes live. Remember, Allied races start at level 10, while Death Knights and Demon Hunters begin at level 8.

Timewalking Made Easy

Talk to Chromie to choose your Timewalking Campaign. If you change your mind, just chat with her again – it’s that simple! And with the upcoming pre-expansion patch, you can even scale these campaigns to level 70, including Dragonflight content.

Radiant Echoes Event: Get Your Memory Fix Before It’s Gone!

Fancy a trip down memory lane with a twist? The Radiant Echoes pre-expansion event is your chance to relive key moments in Azeroth’s history while collecting shiny new loot for your Warband. And don’t worry, we’ve made some changes to keep things snappy and rewarding.

Event Details:

  • When: Until 26th August
  • Where: Dalaran (your main hub), Dragonblight, Dustwallow Marsh, and Searing Gorge
  • Level: 10-70
  • What’s New: Less downtime between event stages, more chances for rewards!
  • Why Bother: Collect Residual Memories, a special currency, to buy exclusive gear from vendors scattered across the zones. (Check your character info for your memory count).

Confronting Memories: How It Works

  1. Head to Dalaran: Level 70 players get a quick intro quest, while everyone else gets whisked straight to Dalaran.
  2. Portal Hopping: Use the portals in Dalaran to jump between the three active event zones. Each zone is active for an hour, so keep an eye out for the glowing portals.
  3. Stage 1: Bash the Echoes: Defeat the radiant echoes wreaking havoc in each zone. Check your map for event locations marked by multicoloured globes.
  4. Stage 2: Boss Battle: Once enough echoes are defeated, a zone boss will spawn. Take them down for extra rewards!
  5. Rinse and Repeat: The event cycles back to stage 1 after the boss battle, spawning more echoes to fight.

Boss Quests:

Feeling up for a challenge? Each zone has a quest to defeat a specific boss:

Cataclysm Classic: Rise of the Zandalari Unleashed!

Forget that old “stay away from da voodoo” advice! Zul’Gurub and Zul’Aman are back and beckoning adventurers to face the might of the Zandalari.

Zul’Gurub: A Familiar Threat Returns

This ancient city is once again a battleground, with the empowered Gurubashi, backed by the Zandalari, ready to defend their lands. It’s a level-85 5-player Heroic dungeon with familiar faces but updated challenges. Best High Priest Venoxis and his cronies to score a treasure map leading to epic loot, including a ring with a gemstone so massive it’s visible even when equipped!

Archaeology buffs, listen up! Unlock an extra boss by excavating Zul’Gurub’s secrets. Four randomly selected trolls await those who dig too deep. Survive their onslaught, and you’ll unearth unique rewards!

Zul’Aman: The Amani Strike Back

The Amani are back with a vengeance, led by a new warlord in Zul’Aman. This level-85 5-player Heroic dungeon will feel familiar to Burning Crusade veterans, but the fight mechanics have been revamped for smaller groups. Be prepared to take on Akil’zon, Nalorakk, Jan’alai, Halazzi, Hex Lord Malacrass, and Daakara in a battle that will test your skills and teamwork.

Epic Gear and Rare Mounts Await

Both dungeons require an average item level of 346 to enter, but the rewards are worth it. Gear up with item level 353 epic loot, including hard-to-find items for specific slots and specializations. And for those who crave rare mounts, Zul’Gurub offers the Swift Zulian Panther and Armored Razzashi Raptor, while Zul’Aman boasts the Amani Battle Bear for groups who can conquer the first four bosses swiftly.

Vol’jin Needs You!

Answer the call and help Vol’jin stop the Zandalari power play! It’s time to revisit these classic dungeons, face old foes, and earn epic rewards. Relive the excitement by watching the original Rise of the Zandalari trailer.
